This year’s Project Management Best Practices conference will provide you with a series of presentations on current project management trends presented through real life projects.
All sessions will be offered in English.

We are gearing this training forum to project managers and middle- to senior-level executives involved in project design and implementation, as well as senior level executives who are involved in strategic development, R&D and corporate development. University faculty, students and consultants are also invited.

The conference will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016, (8.30-17.30) at the Hellenic American Union’s Conference Center, located in downtown Athens on Massalias 22.
Up to 7 PDUs can be applied towards PMI® credential retention and 2 up to 5 CPEs can be applied towards ISACA®’s credential retention.

Mr. Despotidis has served for almost 20 years in technical, commercial and management positions of increasing responsibility in multinational companies in Information Technology and Consulting services sectors, such as Group Bull, Digital (DEC), Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, Ernst & Young (EY). He was also co-founder and general manager of the subsidiary in Greece of the international IT management consulting firm Quint Group. Since 2011 he has joined the Advisory Services practice of Ernst & Young (EY) in Athens, currently serving as Director, with geographical area of activity the Southeast Europe. In parallel, since 2003 he has been appointed as local lecturer for Strategy courses at the International MBA program of the University of Strathclyde Business School from UK, Greek branch (Athens). Mr. Despotidis holds a BEng. from Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Patras, a MSc. in Control Systems from Imperial College London, and a MBA from University of Strathclyde Business School, Glasgow. He also holds professional certifications in Project Management (PRINCE2), in IT Service Management (ITIL v3) and in Scrum agile framework (Professional Scrum Master I). He is member of the Technical Chamber of Greece, of the Hellenic Management Association and Greek Institute of Informatics, and was also a founding member of the Greek Chapter of IT Service Management Forum (itSMF Hellas).
Studied Mathematics and earned his post-graduate degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science. Worked for 10 years as an analyst – programmer, initially at Elf Aquitaine Company, in the field of oil exploration, (Pau – France and Oslo-Norway), then at Lectra Systems Company (Bordeaux –France), in design and production of clothing. Returned to Greece in 1997. Worked for 5 years in the private sector as Project Manager and then as Director of Information Technology at the company Topos Communications Inc., specializing in the implementation of projects in the transportation sector. From 2003 to 2013, worked as a Project & Program Manager in the Information Society SA, for the implementation of projects financed by the European Union, in the fields of Social Security and Health Information Systems. Gained extensive experience in managing large IT projects and procedures relating to requirements analysis, drafting specifications, evaluating proposals, monitoring and supervising the implementation of the Project.
For more than 19 years Angelos worked at Deutsche Telekom Group and subsidiaries and generated lots of experiences in team- and project management by setting up global service organizations. He has undertaken several complex customer contracts (Carve Outs-Ins, Outsourcing, Datacenter Services, Managed Client Services, High Security Solutions etc.) and has set up the required organizations and governance on global level using internal and external workforces. At the moment he is responsible of app. 80 – 90% of all T-Systems Data Center projects globally and for Research & Development of new products e.g. Telekom Cloud. He is responsible for a portfolio of approx 500 projects managed through 6 international locations and through four different departments (Transition & Transformation Presales, Program & Project Management, Architecture and Engineering and R&D). He is an experienced speaker on strategy, project management, governance and risk management. He is a Lecturer in several Universities and training organizations.
Nicos Kourounakis is a Project Management Consultant with expertise in Project Management Methodologies, Portfolio Management and Organizational Project Management Maturity. Nicos has been involved in many international projects in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, Austria and Greece, working with both large organizations and smaller ventures and start-ups. As a Product Manager he also managed the successful development and launch of an innovative Enterprise Project Management application which is currently used by several EU Agencies. Mr. Kourounakis also has several years of experience in training and public speaking. As an Adjunct Professor at the Professional MBA program of the Hellenic American University in Athens, Greece, he has taught courses and delivered seminars on Project Management, Portfolio Management, Value Chain Management and Management of Information Systems. He has also been involved with Project Management Institute both as a speaker at the 2011 PMI Global Project Management Congress in Dublin, at PMI-Istanbul 2012, and PMI BeLux in 2012 (Keynote Speaker), and as an elected Vice President of the Board of Directors of the PMI Chapter in Athens, Greece (2008-2011). Mr. Kourounakis holds an MBA from McGill University, Montreal, Canada, a MASc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Victoria, Canada, and a BSc in Physics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. Nicos is also one of the first 100 professionals to be certified in PMI’s Organizational Project Management Maturity Model (OPM3)®
George Merguerian is Senior Partner of Global Business Management Consultants (GBMC) based in Brussels. Throughout his career, George Merguerian held senior technical/engineering, line management, marketing and management development positions in multi-national organizations from the Construction, Engineering, Engine Manufacturing, Oil Services, Executive Development, Information Technology, and Consulting sectors. He holds a Mechanical Engineering degree and an MBA from the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), Lausanne, Switzerland. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP)®, a member of the Project Management Institute and the Society of European Engineers and Industrialists (SEII). George Merguerian is a faculty member for project management programmes at the Rotterdam School of Management in Holland and the International Management Institute in Ukraine. He has authored and co-authored papers on technical and management subjects.
